Backplane digital communication interface for data exchange within the AMS 6500 rack

The Emerson A6125 is a dual-channel piezoelectric casing vibration monitor module deployed in the AMS 6500 machinery protection system and conforms to the API 670 standard.
Signal Acquisition and Conditioning
It receives differential signals from piezoelectric accelerometers and velometers while providing constant current excitation to sensors. Selectable frequency bands for accelerometer and velometer modes are available for vibration signal filtering.
Real-time Casing Vibration Measurement
The module continuously measures absolute vibration on bearing housings of rotating machinery and computes vibration amplitude to evaluate equipment operating conditions.
Threshold Monitoring and Alarm Control
Configurable Alert and Danger threshold levels are supported. Adjustable alarm delay and hysteresis functions avoid false alarms. Relay outputs will be triggered when vibration values exceed preset limits to execute machinery protection logic.
Multi-form Signal Output
Buffered dynamic vibration signals are accessible from both front and rear terminals. It transmits proportional analog signals including 0/4–20 mA current and 0–10 VDC voltage for interfacing with DCS, SCADA and display units.
Module Self-Diagnosis
It autonomously identifies sensor failures, cable open circuits, abnormal module temperature and hardware errors, and generates corresponding fault alarms.
System Data Communication
Measured data, alarm states and configuration parameters are transmitted via the backplane bus to the AMS 6500 rack to enable centralized monitoring and parameter configuration.
Hot-swappable Function
Modules can be replaced online without powering down the whole monitoring rack, enhancing system maintainability.
Predictive Maintenance Enablement
Vibration data can be forwarded to AMS Suite to facilitate trend observation, spectrum analysis, and early detection of failures such as rolling bearing damage and gearbox mechanical abnormalities.
