05701-A-0330 Honeywell Signal Conditioning Monitor Module

The Honeywell 05701-A-0330 is a System 57 / 5701 gas-detection card—listed either as a single-channel control card (4–20 mA / catalytic / electrochemical input, local LCD, A1/A2/A3 alarms, fault relay, 18–32 VDC) or as a high-integrity double-SPCO relay card for A1/A2/A3, fault and inhibit outputs under MKII control cards. It provides gas-concentration processing and/or safety-alarm relay interfacing for fire-and-gas protection in refineries, offshore platforms, and process plants.

Working Principle of Honeywell 05701-A-0330 (High Integrity Relay Card for System 57)

Applicable System: Honeywell Analytics System 57 gas detection rack;

Module Category: High-integrity relay interface card.

This module communicates with the System 57 control card through the rack backplane bus. It receives digital status information from the upstream control card, such as gas concentration alarm stages, sensor fault alerts, inhibit signals and system diagnostic data.

The internal logic circuit evaluates whether gas readings exceed the preconfigured A1/A2/A3 alarm thresholds, and detects fault conditions including sensor open-circuit, cable short-circuit, power loss and onboard hardware malfunctions. Seven configurable relays support flexible assignment for independent or collective alarm logic. One dedicated fault relay adopts a fail-safe architecture: it remains energized under normal operation and de-energizes upon fault or power loss to activate the fault alarm circuit.

All relays are equipped with SPCO contact outputs (COM / NO / NC). Upon receiving trigger commands, mechanical relay contacts switch state to actuate external field equipment including alarm horns, strobe beacons, exhaust fans and ESD interlock loops. The embedded firmware offers adjustable alarm delay, which prevents false trips induced by transient signal spikes and enables staged alarm activation.

It provides terminal interfaces for 4–20 mA gas detectors to capture analog sensor signals. The internal circuit supports sink or source mode selection via onboard jumpers. Shielded cabling is applied for noise suppression to maintain reliable signal acquisition.

The module is powered by 24 V DC supplied from the rack backplane. Continuous self-diagnostic routines monitor its power supply, relay drive circuitry and communication link throughout operation. The fault relay will activate promptly once an internal anomaly is identified.

Wiring Method for Honeywell 05701-A-0330 (System 57 Relay / Field Interface Card)

Applicable System: Honeywell Analytics System 57 gas detection rack system;

Module Type: High-integrity relay field interface card.

Backplane Bus Connection

Insert the module into the assigned slot of the System 57 rack. The rear D-SUB connector establishes backplane communication and power supply interconnection with the paired single-channel control card automatically. Confirm the connector is fully engaged and correctly aligned.

Field Detector Signal Wiring

Route 4–20 mA signal cables from gas detectors to terminals S, 01, NS, 0V and 24V on the orange front terminal block. Both 3-wire and 4-wire transmitters are supported. Sink or source signal mode can be selected via the on-board jumper. Shielded twisted-pair cable is mandatory for field signal wiring; the shield should be grounded only at the rack end to eliminate ground loops.

Relay Contact Output Wiring

Every relay features SPCO contacts including Common (COM), Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC). Connect external devices such as alarm horns, strobe beacons, ventilation actuators and ESD interlock circuits to COM/NO/NC terminals. Relay contact rating: 24 VDC / 125 VAC, maximum 10 A. Separate wiring for alarm and fault loads based on relay configuration, covering A1/A2/A3 alarm relays and dedicated fault relay.

Power Wiring

The module draws its operating power from the System 57 rack backplane; independent external power supply for this card is not needed. If auxiliary power is required for field transmitters, 24 VDC and 0V can be taken from the dedicated power terminals on the terminal block.

Ground Wiring

Terminate the rack protective earth terminal to the site safety ground. Signal shield ground shall be isolated from power protective ground.

Wiring Precautions

Disconnect rack power prior to any wiring work and verify polarity to prevent damage from reverse connection. Run low-current signal cables separately from high-power relay load cables with adequate clearance to minimize EMI. Never exceed the rated contact load of relays. Configure the on-board jumper to define 4–20 mA sink or source mode before powering up the system.
