Yokogawa PW482-50 S2 Fault Judgment
PWR LED off, no 5VDC backplane output
Judgment:Measure AC input voltage (100-240VAC); check input fuse and terminal tightness. If input power is normal while LED remains off, the power module itself is defective.
PWR LED steady red
Judgment:Module triggers protection due to over-voltage, over-current or internal hardware failure. Check for backplane short-circuit and excessive rack load. If load is normal, module hardware damage is confirmed.
PWR LED blinks intermittently
Judgment:Input AC power fluctuation or excessive ripple; poor terminal contact; intermittent over-temperature protection caused by dust-blocked heat sink. Verify input power quality and module surface temperature.
Ready relay contact abnormal (no ready signal sent to FCS)
Judgment:Module internal self-test failure; output voltage out-of-spec even if LED shows normal status. Measure actual 5VDC backplane output voltage, check dry-contact wiring of ready signal.
Redundant 1+1 configuration, one module degrades and takes no load-sharing current
Judgment:Inspect redundant bus connector contact status; confirm both modules are same hardware revision. If one unit cannot share load under normal input and load condition, the module is faulty.
FIO rack random restart or intermittent I/O module dropout
Judgment:Measure 5VDC backplane voltage under full load. If voltage drops significantly under load while stable under no-load condition, it indicates power-module capacity degradation. Perform no-load / load contrast test.
Module over-heating with high surface temperature
Judgment:Check cabinet ventilation and ambient temperature; inspect heat sink dust accumulation. If over-temperature persists under qualified environment, internal component aging shall be suspected.
Visual physical inspection
Judgment:Check for burnt marks, discoloration, burnt smell or terminal oxidation. Any above-mentioned phenomenon indicates module hardware fault.
Verification by hot-swap
Judgment:Replace with confirmed good spare PW482-50 S2. If symptoms disappear after replacement, the original module is faulty.

Yokogawa PW482-50 S2 Application Scenarios:
This module acts as a dedicated FIO rack power supply for the Yokogawa CENTUM VP DCS Field Control Station. It converts 100–240VAC industrial mains power into stable, regulated 5VDC backplane power to sustain normal operation of all FIO I/O modules and on-site controller hardware. It supports 1+1 redundant parallel installation for high-reliability process control systems, achieving automatic load sharing and bumpless power switching to ensure zero system interruption when a single power module fails.
Widely adopted in continuous process industries such as petrochemical, oil and gas, fine chemical, metallurgy, and thermal power plants, where long-term uninterrupted DCS operation is strictly required. Designed for standard control cabinet installation, it adapts to harsh industrial environments with an operating temperature range of -20℃ to +70℃.
The module outputs power-ready dry contact signals to the FCS controller, enabling real-time power status monitoring, early fault warning and system diagnostic analysis. It is applicable for new DCS project commissioning, on-site equipment renovation and daily spare part replacement of existing CENTUM VP systems.
Compatible with all standard FIO I/O modules including analog input, analog output, RTD and thermocouple temperature input modules, it is mainly used for conventional non-safety-level process control FIO racks. Under redundant configuration, it allows online hot-swap maintenance without rack shutdown or process interruption.
