The ABB PCD231B101 (3BHE025541R0101) is a 32-bit RISC-based PEC80-CCI communication and converter-control interface for AC 800PEC / UNITROL 6000 excitation and power-electronic systems, forwarding fiber gate-pulse firing, conditioning field analog feedback, managing DI/DO interlocks and bridging Modbus/Profibus/IEC 60870/Ethernet to the plant DCS with ≥1500 V isolation and <5 ms standby failover.

2. Incompatible / Unsupported Items

IEC 61850 MMS/GOOSE: No native hardware support for IEC 61850 process bus communication; a third-party protocol converter is mandatory for interconnection.

REX-series SPA bus modules: SPA-ZC22, SPA-ZC23 and other new-generation REX-series optical modules are incompatible due to mechanical structure and firmware version mismatch.

REX/RET series IEDs: REX615, REX640, RET670 and other modern IEDs cannot operate on the traditional SPA bus. They are only used for equipment retrofit, not plug-and-play compatible with SPAU140C.

Unsupported field buses: No onboard interface and driver support for LON bus, MVB and EtherNet/IP protocols.

Modern configuration software: ABB PCM600 tool does not support SPAU140C; only the legacy SPACOM software is available for configuration and diagnosis.

Direct optical connection with REX/RET devices: Mismatched physical optical layer and communication protocols, data transmission is unavailable without an external gateway.

Non-standard power supply: Power supply beyond 18–80 VDC / 80–265 VAC is unsupported. 24 VDC supply is unstable and not guaranteed if the voltage drops below 18 VDC.
