Inputs
24VDC working power supply;
Trigger phase control command from AVR main control board;
Synchronous voltage sampling signal (grid synchronization reference);
Power loop status feedback signal;
External enable/block signal.
Outputs
Six isolated thyristor trigger pulses (sent to the thyristor gate of the rectifier bridge);
Feedback signals such as pulse faults and power supply abnormalities are sent back to the main control unit;
Onboard fault indication drive signal.
The GDB021BE HIEE410455P104 serves as a plug-in gate drive circuit board specially designed for ABB UNITROL static excitation systems. During normal operation, the module receives multiple input signals including firing angle commands, AC synchronization reference waveforms, as well as enable and inhibit control signals delivered from the main AVR controller. These acquired signals undergo internal signal conditioning and timing processing to produce precisely synchronized firing pulses. Leveraging built-in reinforced galvanic isolation circuits, the board converts low-voltage control-level signals into stable, electrically isolated drive pulses, which are then routed to trigger the thyristors installed in the excitation power rectifier bridge. By dynamically adjusting the firing instant of each thyristor, the board modulates the magnitude of rectified DC excitation current, so as to stabilize the terminal voltage of synchronous generators. In addition, the board implements real-time surveillance on pulse integrity and internal circuit operating status. If irregular pulse outputs or hardware circuit failures are identified, relevant fault feedback signals will be transmitted back to the master excitation controller to activate corresponding system protection logic. Benefiting from optimized anti-interference PCB layout and hardware design, the unit sustains consistent and dependable signal performance even in the harsh electromagnetic environment inside excitation cabinets.
