Features 32 channels of differential DC-coupled thermocouple analog inputs.

Compatible thermocouple types include J, K, T, E, R, S, B and N.

DC input impedance reaches 22 MΩ.

Maximum allowable common mode voltage is ±10 V DC.

Equipped with 16-bit A/D conversion.

Integrated cold junction compensation and signal linearization functions.

Open circuit detection is available for thermocouple wiring.

Output

This module has no field analog or digital output ports.

It sends processed 16-bit digital temperature data to Tricon main processors through the backplane bus.

Valid temperature readings are delivered to the safety control system based on TMR median voting algorithm.

The Triconex 3706A module is not equipped with on-board field wiring terminals. It links to a special external thermocouple termination panel through an ELCO interface cable.

Field thermocouple sensors are terminated onto screw terminals of the external termination panel. Every channel uses differential two-wire connection, and corresponding thermocouple extension wires shall be selected based on thermocouple categories.

Cold junction compensation sensors are embedded in the termination panel to guarantee precise temperature compensation. Cable shielding should be grounded at a single end to avoid ground loop interference.

The module plugs into the Tricon chassis backplane to obtain power and implement internal communication. It transmits digital data with main processors over the backplane bus. This module provides no field output wiring connections.
