Power Circuit (Main Power Input & Output – IGCT Power Terminals)
Maximum repetitive off-state voltage (VDRM): 4500 V
Nominal continuous on-state current: 3500 A
Non-repetitive surge current: 6000 A (duration: 10 ms)
On-state voltage drop: ≤1.9 V at 3500 A
This device integrates an anti-parallel freewheeling diode. Its press-pack high-current terminals act as DC power input and switchable power output for medium voltage converter applications.
Control Inputs (Gate Driver Side)
Fiber Optic Command Input
Optical receiving channel accepts optical turn-on and turn-off trigger signals transmitted from the upper-level control board.
Optical wavelength: 1310 nm, multimode fiber (62.5/125 μm)
Auxiliary Power Input
Nominal supply voltage: 24 V DC
Typical quiescent operating current: ≤0.6 A
Maximum power consumption: 15 W
The auxiliary power domain is electrically isolated from the high-voltage main power circuit.
Signal Outputs (Gate Driver Side)
Fiber Optic Status Feedback Output
Optical transmitting channel feeds diagnostic status signals (normal or fault state) back to the main control unit via optical communication.
Gate Drive Pulse Output (to IGCT Gate Terminal)
Positive pulse for IGCT turn-on command
Reversed negative pulse for IGCT turn-off command
Peak gate drive current: 5 ~ 8 A
Electrical isolation is implemented between the gate drive circuit and the high-voltage main power circuit.

Device Configuration
This assembly combines the 5SHY3545L0009 press-pack IGCT with the dedicated 3BHB013085R0001 gate driver unit, engineered for medium-voltage high-power converter systems.
Electrical Performance
It offers a rated repetitive off-state voltage of 4500 V and a nominal continuous conduction current of 3500 A. The device withstands a non-repetitive surge current of 6000 A for 10 ms. Low on-state voltage drop minimizes conduction power loss. An integrated anti-parallel freewheeling diode reduces requirements for external circuit configuration.
Optical Control Interface
Commands and status feedback are transmitted via fiber optics, which suppress electromagnetic interference between high-voltage power circuits and low-voltage control circuits. The driver receives optical turn-on and turn-off triggers, and transmits operating and fault status back to the main controller through optical links. Communication adopts 1310 nm multimode fiber (62.5/125 μm).
Gate Driver Performance
The driver generates positive turn-on pulses and negative turn-off pulses with peak gate drive current between 5 A and 8 A, supporting fast and reliable switching of the IGCT. The driver is powered by 24 V DC auxiliary supply and features galvanic isolation from the high-voltage main circuit.
Protection & Diagnostics
Integrated comprehensive monitoring covers auxiliary supply voltage monitoring, overcurrent protection and device anomaly diagnosis. Upon fault detection, the driver immediately transmits optical fault signals and activates protective locking to avoid component failure.
Mechanical & Application Features
Press-pack construction supports double-sided cooling to achieve efficient thermal dissipation. Its compact integrated structure is suitable for standardized stacking inside power cabinets. Typical applications include medium-voltage drives, static var compensators and power transmission converters.
Anti-interference Capability
Full galvanic separation between control and power domains, fiber-optic signal transmission and optimized drive circuitry deliver stable operation in industrial environments with severe electromagnetic disturbance.
