FOXBORO P0924AU Technical Features
Module Type: Digital Input Termination Carrier. It is passive front-mount termination hardware designed for FBM digital input modules, with no built-in signal-processing circuitry.
Input: Accepts field discrete digital signals including dry-contact and DC voltage inputs. It collects status feedback from field devices such as switches, limit switches, push-buttons and relay contacts.
Output: No field-oriented output channels. It forwards discrete digital status signals to the compatible FBM module via the rear connector.
Compatible FBM Modules: FBM201 (16-Channel Digital Input), FBM202 (32-Channel Digital Input)
Supported System: Foxboro I/A-Series DCS; compatible with P0500JX standard baseplate backplane.
Software: I/A-Series System Software, Foxboro Control Configuration Tool, FoxView / FoxDraw HMI. No additional driver installation is required; all channel configuration is performed on the DCS workstation.
Communication Protocol: Foxboro proprietary FBM backplane bus. Communication logic is not implemented on P0924AU; signal sampling and protocol handling are fully undertaken by the matched FBM module.
Voltage & Current Specifications:
Field Input Signal: Dry-contact or DC-voltage discrete input (actual signal level depends on the paired FBM module)
Field Loop Power: External field-side power supply for dry-contact sensing circuits
Backplane Power: Supplied by FBM module and baseplate; the termination carrier draws almost no auxiliary current
Per-channel protection: Independent fuse protection for each input channel
Terminal Wire Size: 0.5-2.5 mm² screw-clamp terminals

FOXBORO P0924AU Application Cases
Case 1: Discrete Signal Monitoring for Petrochemical Refinery DCS
System configuration: P0924AU termination carrier works with FBM201 digital input module within Foxboro I/A-Series DCS system, installed on P0500JX baseplate backplane.
Application: Captures dry-contact status signals from field emergency-stop pushbuttons, valve open/close limit switches, pump operation and fault relays, as well as safety interlock contacts for distillation process units.
Field benefit: Individual channel fuses protect downstream FBM hardware against damage caused by single-loop short-circuit. Front-panel LED indicators and spring-loaded test points streamline commissioning and routine fault diagnosis. Hot-swap function enables carrier replacement without full cabinet power-off, effectively reducing unplanned downtime for continuous production processes.
Case 2: Auxiliary Equipment Status Collection for Coal-Fired Power Plants
System configuration: Foxboro I/A-Series distributed control system, P0924AU paired with FBM202 32-channel digital input module.
Application: Acquires on-off feedback signals from boiler auxiliary fans, feed water pumps, air dampers, filter differential pressure switches and local protection relay contacts. All status data is transmitted to DCS HMI for operator supervision and interlock logic execution.
Field benefit: Robust industrial-grade connector contacts withstand high-vibration conditions inside power workshops and minimize intermittent signal dropouts. Wiring maintenance can be completed at the termination side without disturbing core FBM control modules.
Case 3: Process Interlock Control for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants
System configuration: Foxboro I/A-Series DCS equipped with P0924AU digital input termination hardware.
Application: Receives dry-contact inputs including tank level limit switches, gate valve position feedback, pump fault signals and overflow alarms from aeration and sedimentation tanks. These digital status signals drive pump start-stop interlock and alarm activation logic.
Field benefit: Well-organized terminal arrangement simplifies wiring adjustments during plant upgrade projects. Separate channel fault protection isolates external field circuit failures and enhances overall system reliability.
Case 4: Safety Signal Acquisition for Oil and Gas Tank Farms
System configuration: I/A-Series DCS distributed I/O cabinet with P0924AU and FBM201 combination.
Application: Monitors storage-tank level switches (high, high-high, low), emergency shutdown valve limit feedback and leakage-detection dry contacts. Collected signals execute safety interlock to shut off inlet valves.
Field benefit: Passive termination design retains all signal-conditioning functions on FBM modules. Test points and LED status lights support fast fault isolation, helping maintenance staff distinguish faults between field cables and termination carriers efficiently.
