HIMA F8650E Functions
Safety Logic Execution: It is a dual-processor lock-step safety CPU for the HIQuad H41q / H51q SIS platform. It executes safety application logic developed in ELOP II or SILworX, and activates fail-safe behavior whenever internal faults are detected.
Redundancy Synchronization: Hot-standby redundant CPU operation is supported. High-speed data synchronization is performed between active and standby units to ensure bumpless switch-over without disruption to safety-related functions.
Backplane Bus Management: Manages rack-level backplane communication, exchanges process data with local I/O modules, and acquires status information of field safety signals.
Comprehensive Self-Diagnosis: Performs ongoing background diagnostics covering CPU operation, memory integrity, application program, watchdog circuit and bus parity. Hardware failures are identified in real time to drive the system into a predefined safe state.
Event and Sequence-of-Event Logging: Time-stamped records are generated for system faults and operational events, supporting subsequent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Communication Processing: Equipped with two galvanically-isolated RS-485 ports. It supports HIMA proprietary safety bus protocol and Modbus-RTU for data interchange with host monitoring systems and third-party field devices.
Local Status Indication: On-board LED indicators (ERROR, CPU, ACK, IO) together with a digital display enable convenient on-site reading of module operating health and fault information.
Safety Certification: TÜV-approved for SIL 3 compliance under IEC 61508 / IEC 61511, suitable for ESD, BMS and Fire & Gas safety loops.
Application Scope: Widely deployed for emergency shutdown, burner management and fire-and-gas protection within petrochemical, oil & gas and power-generation industries.

HIMA F8650E Wiring Method
Note: The F8650E serves as the central CPU module for the H41q/H51q HIQuad rack-mounted SIS system. Power supply and backplane bus signals are transmitted through the rack base board. Only serial communication ports require field-side wiring; no field I/O terminals are available on the CPU module itself.
1. Power Connection
Operating voltage: 24 VDC (range: 20.4-28.8 VDC), power is provided by the rack backplane base unit.
Dual-redundant 24 VDC power input shall be connected to the rack base board (L1+, L1-; L2+, L2-).
Recommended wire cross-section: 1.0-2.5 mm². Tighten terminal screws in accordance with torque specifications from HIMA official manuals.
Protective earth (PE): Link cabinet protective ground to the PE terminal on the rack base. Do not connect protective ground directly to the front panel of the CPU module.
2. Internal Backplane Connection
Insert the F8650E vertically into the dedicated CPU slot of the HIQuad rack. Data interaction with local I/O modules runs over the rack backplane bus with no additional external wiring.
For redundant CPU configuration: Mount two F8650E modules in matched CPU slots. Redundancy synchronization is realized via the internal rack bus, and no extra synchronization cable is needed.
3. RS-485 Serial Ports (D-Sub 9-pin Male, Two Galvanically-Isolated Channels)
9-pin D-Sub pin definition:
Pin 3: Data A (RxD/TxD-A)
Pin 8: Data B (RxD/TxD-B)
Pin 5: Signal ground (DGND)
Remaining pins: Unused
Wiring specifications for Modbus-RTU / HIMA safety bus:
Use shielded twisted-pair cables for RS-485 bus wiring. The shielding layer shall be earthed at one cabinet end only for single-point grounding.
Fit 120 Ω terminating resistors at both physical endpoints of the RS-485 main bus.
Keep signal ground DGND isolated from field local ground to prevent ground-loop interference.
Channel 1 and Channel 2 are electrically isolated, which allows connection to separate independent bus segments.
4. Engineering Download Connection
Connect the PADT engineering device (ELOP II / SILworX) to the RS-485 serial port with a special programming cable to complete program downloading, fault diagnosis and parameter configuration.
5. Key Wiring Precautions
The CPU module does not carry field I/O terminals. All field DI/DO/AI/AO signals should be wired to terminal blocks or FTA of corresponding I/O modules.
Route safety communication cables separately from high-voltage AC power cables to minimize electromagnetic interference.
Perform all wiring operations with power switched off. Hot-plugging of D-Sub communication connectors is prohibited.
Comply with SIL 3 installation standards; keep safety-related wiring physically separated from non-safety circuits.
Confirm correct 24 VDC polarity before power-on. Reverse power polarity may cause permanent damage to the rack base and CPU module.
