S403M-CA Kollmorgen 400 Digital Servo Amplifier

The Kollmorgen S403M-CA is a 3-arms continuous / 9-arms peak TMR-class S400-series servo master drive operating from 115–230 VAC (160–310 VDC bus) with CANopen, dual ±10 V analog inputs, multi-feedback support and 62.5 µs current-loop update for 1.2 kW-class motion control. Housed in a 100×245×225 mm IP20 DIN-rail chassis with integrated regen and RS232 commissioning, it serves as a compact master axis for AKM-motor packaging, CNC and assembly applications.

Motion Control Function

Provides full closed-loop control of torque, speed and position. It supports point-to-point positioning, electronic gearing, electronic cam motion and multi-axis synchronous operation. It flexibly responds to external analog and pulse control commands to meet diverse precision motion requirements.

Multi-Feedback Compatibility

Compatible with multiple mainstream feedback devices, including incremental encoders, resolvers, EnDat, Hiperface, BiSS and SSI absolute encoders. It can feed back real-time motor operating status and support encoder emulation output for upper-level system linkage.

Fieldbus Communication

Comes with standard CANopen interface. Optional extended bus protocols including PROFIBUS, SERCOS and EtherCAT are available to realize high-speed data interaction and remote control with host controllers.

Equipped with a built-in brake resistor and allows connection of external brake resistors for stable dynamic braking. It supports DC-link parallel connection, enabling regenerative power sharing among multiple drives to improve energy utilization efficiency.

Fault Diagnosis & Protection Function

Realizes comprehensive real-time monitoring for over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, motor abnormality and feedback circuit faults. It automatically triggers alarm protection and safe shutdown under abnormal conditions, and records fault codes for rapid troubleshooting and maintenance.

System Expansion Capability

As a master axis module, it can be matched with up to 7 slave axis modules to build a compact, shared-power multi-axis servo control system, suitable for multi-station and complex linkage automation equipment.

Configuration & Debugging

Supports parameter configuration, real-time operating data monitoring and built-in oscilloscope analysis through the RS232 service port and professional supporting software, facilitating on-site commissioning and performance optimization.

Safety Function

Integrates Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function, which complies with industrial machine safety standards to ensure reliable equipment shutdown and personnel safety during emergency situations.
