Commissioning Procedure for FOXBORO H90JFBD022J0 Gauge Pressure Transmitter
Required Tools: HART communicator, pressure calibrator, high-precision multimeter, 250 Ω HART load resistor, pressure test hose, isolation manifold, lockout-tagout (LOTO) devices
Pre-Commissioning Safety Check
Perform lockout-tagout procedures on the process pipeline to ensure operational safety. Isolate the transmitter from process media and fully vent all trapped internal pressure to eliminate residual pressure in the sensor cavity. Inspect the transmitter’s mechanical mounting status, process thread sealing performance and field electrical wiring. Verify the loop supply voltage is within 12–45 V DC, and confirm the two-wire connection complies with standard terminal wiring diagrams. Ensure the ambient operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C with no condensation or humid hazards.
Loop and Communication Connection
Complete series wiring of the transmitter with the power supply and DCS/PLC analog input channel. Install a 250 Ω resistor on the signal loop to support normal HART communication. Connect the HART communicator in parallel with the resistor, then energize the loop. Confirm stable and effective communication with the transmitter, and verify the device tag, serial number and firmware version to ensure the device model is H90JFBD022J0.
Basic Parameter Configuration
Configure core device information including device tag and description, and select applicable engineering units (PSI, bar, kPa, etc.). Set LRV (Lower Range Value) and URV (Upper Range Value) strictly in accordance with P&ID design requirements. Adjust the damping time to filter out pressure fluctuation and stabilize measurement data. Set the output characteristic to linear mode; enable square root output mode only for flow measurement applications. For transmitters equipped with a local LCD display, customize display contents including process pressure value, span percentage and loop current. Configure high/low pressure alarm thresholds and signal saturation limits for device diagnostic monitoring.
Zero and Span Calibration
Vent the pressure port to atmosphere to achieve zero gauge pressure state, then perform zero trimming via the HART communicator and record the 4 mA baseline output value. Apply full-span standard pressure through a calibrated pressure source, hold the pressure steady until the reading stabilizes, then complete span trimming and verify the 20 mA full-scale output. Conduct linearity verification at 25%, 50% and 75% of the calibrated span during both pressure rising and falling processes. Compare actual measured current values with theoretical standard values. Repeat trimming operation if the measurement deviation exceeds the transmitter’s allowable accuracy tolerance.
Function and Diagnostic Verification
Cross-check the consistency of readings among the local LCD display, HART communicator and DCS system monitor. Use the HART simulation function to force output of 4 mA, 12 mA and 20 mA signals respectively, and confirm the control system accurately receives corresponding signal values. Check real-time operating temperature of the sensor and electronic components, as well as overall device diagnostic status. Ensure no fault codes, sensor drift alerts or loop abnormal alarms exist.
On-Process Test and Handover
Slowly close the vent valve and open the isolation valve to introduce actual process pressure. Continuously monitor real-time pressure readings to confirm stable operation. Verify the transmitter output responds smoothly to process pressure changes without sudden jumps or continuous drift. Fully record all configuration parameters, calibration data, test time and operator information for file archiving. Remove all test tools and restore on-site wiring to standard operating state. Lift lockout-tagout permits only after all commissioning items pass verification.
