Basler MVC232 9037000103
Module Type: Manual Voltage Control Module, serving as a backup manual excitation controller for generator excitation systems. It enables operators to take over generator voltage regulation manually when the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) fails, and supports commissioning and maintenance work of synchronous generator sets.
Input & Output, Voltage & Current
Control input voltage: 60 VAC ±10% or 55 VDC ±10%, compatible with 50–400 Hz AC power sources.
Continuous rated output current: 20 A DC, used to supply excitation current to the generator field winding.
Short-time withstand current: 200 A for 1 second, capable of enduring transient surge current during excitation switching.
Auxiliary output contacts: Dry contact signal outputs, only used for feedback of working mode status, without load driving capability. These contacts transmit local/remote status signals to protection relays, RTU and SCADA systems.
Supported System
It is mainly matched with synchronous generator excitation systems, working alongside the main AVR. It can cut off the AVR circuit through the internal isolation switch and switch to manual excitation control mode. It cooperates with generator protection cabinets, synchronizing panels and substation automatic control systems. It is a pure hardware excitation unit and independent of any PC operating system.
Program
This is a hardware-based analog module without embedded software, firmware or programmable logic. All voltage regulation and mode switching functions are implemented by internal transformers, rectifier circuits and potentiometer adjustment. No software download or parameter configuration is required. Operators adjust the excitation output voltage via the front-panel manual knob.
Communication Protocol
There is no built-in digital communication interface or network protocol. Status information can only be transmitted through hardwired dry contact discrete signals, and it cannot actively upload data over fieldbus or Ethernet.
Extra Specifications
Terminal wire gauge: Terminals accept conductors up to 10 AWG for reliable high-current excitation wiring.
Operating temperature: -10 ℃ ~ +60 ℃, suitable for indoor generator control cabinets and industrial power plant environments.
Function highlight: When switched to manual mode, the AVR circuit is fully isolated, so technicians can maintain or replace the automatic regulator safely without de-energizing the whole excitation loop.

Application Cases of Basler 9037000103 (MVC232 Manual Voltage Control Module)
The Basler 9037000103 (MVC232) is a professional hardware-based manual voltage control and switching module integrated with an anti-pump protection circuit. It acts as a reliable on-site backup control unit for power system automatic control and remote SCADA systems. It supports local manual closing and tripping operations for medium and high-voltage circuit breakers, while outputting dry-contact position feedback signals. It is widely used for equipment commissioning, daily maintenance and emergency fault isolation in various power distribution and generation scenarios.
Medium Voltage Substation Switchgear Cabinet
Installed in medium-voltage switchgear panels of urban and industrial distribution substations. It supports local manual switching of vacuum circuit breakers during equipment commissioning, routine maintenance and circuit fault disposal. The built-in anti-pump function effectively prevents repeated closing operations on permanently faulty lines, avoiding secondary equipment damage. Auxiliary dry contacts upload breaker on/off status to substation RTU and SCADA systems for real-time status monitoring.
Generator Set Control Cabinet
Applied in the outlet breaker control system of diesel generators, gas turbines and hydroelectric generating units. When the automatic voltage regulator (AVR), automatic synchronization system or remote control system fails, it provides independent manual operation functions for generator breakers. It realizes emergency disconnection of generators from the grid, protects prime movers and busbar equipment from overload and fault impact, and ensures safe unit shutdown.

Industrial Plant Main Power Distribution Room
Deployed in main distribution switchgear of chemical plants, refineries and large manufacturing factories. It serves as the local backup control for incoming feeders and bus tie breakers. When the plant DCS system, protection relays or remote control commands fail, maintenance personnel can manually isolate faulty power feeders on site, prevent fault spread and large-scale power outage, and guarantee stable operation of core production equipment.
High-Voltage Motor Control Center (MCC)
Equipped in high-voltage control cabinets for large water supply pumps, industrial blowers and compressors. It provides independent manual override functions for motor circuit breakers, which is not restricted by automatic motor protection logic. It is applicable for equipment trial operation, regular overhaul, field debugging and emergency shutdown scenarios, ensuring flexible and safe on-site operation of high-power motor equipment.
Renewable Energy Booster Station Switchgear
Widely used in switchgear of wind farm and solar PV collector booster stations. It supports local manual opening and closing of collection line circuit breakers. In case of inverter failure, collection line short circuit and other faults, field staff can quickly isolate faulty branches on site without relying on remote SCADA commands, ensuring stable operation of the overall new energy power collection system.
Offshore Oil and Gas Platform Power Distribution System
Installed in medium-voltage switchgear of offshore oil and gas platforms. Adapted to harsh marine environments with humidity, salt fog and electromagnetic interference. It provides stable emergency manual control for platform power feeders. When offshore-onshore remote communication is interrupted or the automatic control system fails, it ensures reliable switching and isolation of power equipment to guarantee platform power supply safety.
Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant High-Voltage Switchgear
Used for high-voltage inlet and outlet breaker control of large water supply pumps and sewage treatment blowers in water plants. It supports on-site manual switching operation during equipment overhaul, pipeline maintenance and hydraulic fault disposal. The breaker position feedback signals are uploaded to the plant central control system, realizing unified status monitoring while ensuring convenient on-site operation.
Railway and Tunnel Power Distribution Switchgear
Adopted in traction power distribution and tunnel ventilation power supply switchgear. It provides safe and reliable local manual control for power supply breakers during railway line maintenance, tunnel equipment overhaul and emergency evacuation. It realizes accurate isolation of power circuits, eliminates electric safety hazards, and ensures the safety of maintenance personnel and tunnel operation equipment.
