Functions of Kongsberg 343166 CRP Control Room Panel

The CRP control room panel is a dedicated human-machine input device built for Kongsberg marine monitoring and dynamic positioning systems. It functions as a local operator input unit inside the control room, rather than an I/O module for signal acquisition or actuator driving.

Equipped with an integrated trackball, dedicated function keys and numeric keypad, it enables operators to navigate and operate the HMI workstation. Operators can move the cursor, select menu options, switch system display pages, acknowledge alarms and enter setpoint values directly through these physical controls.

It sends all operator commands and trigger signals to the connected host workstation via isolated RS‑422 serial port and USB 2.0 HID interface. Bidirectional communication handshaking is supported to guarantee reliable transmission of operation commands and prevent signal dropout.

It facilitates alarm management for vessel machinery monitoring systems. Operators can acknowledge single or grouped alarms, reset alarm indicators and retrieve alarm history records on the K-Chief HMI through the panel keys.

It acts as a backup physical input for Dynamic Positioning (DP) operator stations. If the touchscreen malfunctions or becomes inaccessible, this panel serves as an alternative input method to browse DP control pages, check position status and modify related setpoints.

Compatible with Kongsberg K-Chief 600 and K-Chief 700 platforms, it allows operators to toggle between various monitoring screens, such as engine room conditions, auxiliary equipment parameters, tank level data, valve status and vessel power distribution displays.

It is designed for console mounting and 24/7 continuous marine operation. Signal isolation is implemented on internal communication circuits to mitigate interference generated by the ship’s power network. It contains no analog input, digital input, relay output or analog output channels for field sensors and actuators.

Constructed in compliance with marine EMC and vibration standards, it delivers consistent input performance under shipboard vibration and electromagnetic interference within control room environments. It does not perform logic control, data computation or standalone signal processing. All logic judgment and data processing tasks are undertaken by the connected host system.
