The ABB 1MRK002311-AA is a 24 VDC (<2 W) single-mode fiber line-data module for Relion 670 IEDs, offering dual 1310 nm Tx/Rx SC ports, 10 Mbps protection bus and up to 20 km reach to carry current-differential, far-trip and GOOSE traffic with full electrical isolation from −20 to +70 °C. It is the hot-swappable optical bridge that lets REX/RED/REC670 relays do fiber longitudinal protection and cross-bay interlocking without carrier channels or copper-ground-loop exposure.

ABB 1MRK002311-AA Troubleshooting Steps

Safety note: Perform high-voltage measurement strictly follow site safety rules; disconnect CT/PT secondary before module wiring work to avoid open-circuit high-voltage hazard.

Step1 Visual & mechanical inspection

Check module LED indicator status, record red/alarm flashing pattern.

Inspect module surface for burn marks, overheating, dust, corrosion.

Check back-plane slot: module fully locked, no loose, bent or dirty pins.

Verify cabinet ambient temperature within operating range, good ventilation.

Step2 Auxiliary power supply check (Power Input)

Measure auxiliary supply terminals: actual value shall be 80-250V AC/DC.

Confirm no large voltage fluctuation, no intermittent power drop.

Check power terminal tightness, loose wiring causes intermittent fault.

Power-cycle module: power off for 3-5 minutes, re-power, observe if alarm disappears.

Step3 Analog measuring input check (CT / VT secondary)

Power off relevant circuit; check CT secondary wiring terminal tightness, no open-circuit.

Check fiber cable for sharp bend, crush damage; minimum bending radius follow specification.

Swap known good fiber cable for cross-validation, distinguish module fault vs fiber fault.

Check opposite-side optical device power & communication status, confirm receiving-end normal.

Step5 Module internal diagnostic & firmware

Access upper IED diagnostic menu, read internal event log, hardware error records, supervision alarms.

Check firmware compatibility between this module and main CPU unit; mismatch causes communication abort.

If many abnormal events persist after power-reset: re-download correct configuration parameter.

Step6 Isolation test (Distinguish external wiring fault or module hardware fault)

Disconnect all external wiring: auxiliary power, CT/VT input, fiber link.

Only connect qualified stable auxiliary power supply to module.
