ABB UNS 0874A-P V1 (3BHB021516R0001) Input and Output Detailed Specifications
Power Supply Input
Nominal operating voltage is 24 VDC, which is delivered through the rear connector from the matching Unitrol excitation main controller. The allowable working voltage range is 20.4 VDC to 28.8 VDC. Typical power consumption current equals 80 mA, while the maximum current draws up to 120 mA when the LCD backlight works at full brightness and keys are operated continuously. There are no separate external power terminals; power supply is exclusively obtained via the rear plug-in interface.
Local Human-Machine Input
Input is realized by tactile push-buttons located on the front panel. Operators submit local commands, adjust parameters, select operating modes and switch display pages through physical keys. Keystroke signals are converted internally into digital command data and transferred to the excitation main controller over the built-in communication channel. This panel is not equipped with hard-wired external terminals for field digital or analog signals.
Communication Input (Rear Connector)
Bidirectional serial communication data is received from the Unitrol main controller. Real-time measurement data, alarm status, fault codes and system configuration parameters are transmitted from the excitation master board. The panel cannot directly process signals from field sensors, CT or VT secondary circuits. All process variables are retrieved from the excitation controller via the internal interface.
Output Signals
Visual display output: The backlit LCD presents measurement pages, parameter menus, alarm notifications and diagnostic text for local operators.
LED indicator output: On-board LEDs indicate equipment running status, active alarms and fault conditions.
Communication Output (Rear Connector)
Bidirectional serial communication output forwards all keypad-triggered commands, updated parameter settings and operating-mode change requests to the Unitrol excitation main controller.
Supplementary Notes
This operator unit functions purely as a human-machine interface. It features no standalone hardware terminals for analog input, digital input, relay output or analog output to connect with on-site field devices. Practical control logic, protection algorithms and field-signal processing are all performed by the corresponding excitation main controller. Both power delivery and all-signal interaction depend fully on the dedicated rear plug-in connector. Field external wiring must not be directly connected to this front-panel assembly.

Functions of ABB UNS 0874A-P V1 (3BHB021516R0001)
Real-time monitoring of critical generator and excitation-system parameters such as excitation voltage, excitation current, generator terminal voltage and active power, displayed on the back-lit LCD screen.
On-site modification and configuration of excitation-system operating parameters as well as protection setpoints directly through the front-panel interface.
Selection of local or remote control mode; supports switching between manual and automatic excitation regulation for the Unitrol excitation system.
Visual display of active fault alarm codes, historical alarm records and embedded diagnostic data of excitation equipment to facilitate on-site fault diagnosis.
Transmission of operator-initiated commands to the excitation main controller over the internal serial communication channel when front-panel push-buttons are activated.
LED visual indication reflecting system operating status, alarm occurrences and equipment fault conditions.
Supports field commissioning, regular inspection and basic maintenance work without reliance on upper-computer PC software.
Allows page navigation, data review and parameter confirmation using physical push-buttons on the front faceplate.
This panel contains no independent control algorithm. All user-entered instructions are forwarded to the compatible Unitrol main controller for actual execution.
