ABB 1MRK000008-PB (Display Panel for Relion 670-series IED)
Power supply voltage
This front-mounted HMI module obtains power from the main IED through its rear internal bus connection and features no separate external power connectors. The compatible Relion 670 base device provides two standard power supply options: a low-voltage DC variant rated 24-60 V DC, and a wide-range high-voltage variant supporting 90-250 V for both AC and DC input. The display panel operates off stabilized 24 V DC logic power generated by the host protection unit.
Current consumption
Under regular operation, the 1MRK000008-PB display panel draws a typical current between 120 mA and 180 mA. Its maximum inrush current at power-up is around 220 mA. This power draw is included within the total power rating of the parent IED. The overall power consumption of the complete IED ranges from 15 W to 30 W, subject to the quantity of fitted I/O and communication modules. This display hardware cannot supply driving current to any field-connected loads.

ABB 1MRK000008-PB Wiring Method
This front-mounted HMI device is not equipped with external field wiring terminals, power ports or signal cable interfaces, and utilizes an internal rear-plug-in connection structure.
Mechanical-electrical connection
Position the module against the front slot of the Relion 670-series base IED and press it securely into place. Its integrated rear edge connector engages with the internal bus receptacle located on the front circuit board of the main IED. Both power feed and digital communication signals are transferred exclusively via this built-in rear connector, eliminating the need for external power or communication cabling.
Grounding requirement
Protective earthing for the HMI module is realized through metal-to-metal contact with the front metal frame of the host IED. The chassis of the main IED shall be reliably connected to cabinet protective earth in compliance with substation EMC standards. A dedicated separate grounding cable is not necessary for the display panel.
Important notes
CT, VT, binary I/O and network cables must never be connected to this display module. All field-side wiring shall be implemented on the rear terminal blocks of the base IED. The display merely acquires pre-processed digital data from the main unit over the internal bus. Hot-swap replacement is supported under powered-on IED status; the old panel can be removed and the new one installed without altering any existing field wiring.
