The RPS6U is a rack-mounted power supply module specially designed for the VM600 machinery protection and condition monitoring system. It is installed within the ABE04x 6U system rack.

Core Functions

Supply stable internal rack voltages (+5 V DC, +12 V DC, −12 V DC) through the backplane connector for all functional boards housed in the VM600 rack, such as MPC4, IOC4T and other monitoring-processing modules.

Support dual-module redundant power architecture. Two RPS6U modules can be deployed in one rack with automatic bumpless switchover, preventing system outage triggered by a single power supply fault. It also permits standalone operation for non-redundant setups.

Integrate multi-stage protective circuits for over-voltage, over-load and persistent short-circuit conditions, protecting the rack backplane and internal electronic boards against damage under abnormal load scenarios.

Front-panel LED indicators show input power condition and health status of every output voltage rail, enabling fast on-site visual identification of power-related faults.

Operating Procedure for Vibro-Meter VM600 RPS6U (SIM-275A, 200-582-500-013)

Pre-Installation Inspection

Examine the module casing for physical damage and surface scratches. Confirm that the part number and model label conform to technical specifications. Make certain the ABE04x 6U rack is de-energized and under lock-out-tag-out status. Inspect backplane connectors for deformation, oxidation and dirt contamination.

Module Installation

Position the RPS6U unit against its assigned slot on the ABE04x rack. Slide the module smoothly along guide rails until the backplane connector achieves full engagement. Tighten front-panel retention screws uniformly to fix the module securely. For redundant setups, mount the second RPS6U into the dedicated power slot within the same rack.

Input Power Wiring

Run external AC/DC input cables to the RPS6U terminal block. Complete live, neutral and protective-earth wiring strictly in accordance with official wiring drawings. Ensure cable lugs are properly crimped and firmly tightened. Never switch on power before all wiring work is finished.

Power-On and Initial Check

Switch on the input circuit breaker to energize the module. Observe front-panel LED indicators. Normal working condition is shown by lit input-power LED and stable illumination of all output-rail LEDs. If any fault LED lights up, disconnect power supply at once and check wiring connections as well as module insertion status.

Redundancy Function Verification (Dual-RPS6U Configuration)

When both power modules are in healthy running status, cut input power to one RPS6U manually. Verify bumpless, uninterrupted switch-over; the whole VM600 rack and all monitoring boards shall maintain continuous operation. Under regular operating conditions, perform periodic visual checks of front-panel LEDs. Retrieve power-supply metrics including input voltage and output-rail health through VM600 configuration software. Log relevant status data into on-site maintenance records.

Module Replacement (Hot-Swap Maintenance)

Confirm the standby power module is fault-free and can bear the full rack load independently. Loosen front-panel fixing screws of the defective RPS6U. Pull the module straight out of its slot. Insert the replacement spare module into the empty slot and fasten the screws. Check LED feedback to confirm the new module enters normal online state.

Power-Down Procedure

To shut down the system, trip the input circuit breaker to cut power supply. Allow sufficient time for all rack LEDs to turn off, then release retention screws and take out the module.
